On Friday 5th December 2025, our school was lucky enough to join the first-ever live stream from Union Glacier in Antarctica. We were a part of making history...very exciting! Picture News, who helped Robert Swan OBE make contact with us all, estimated that 1,003,250 children watched this live! This is all part of a charity called 2041. It is called this because in 2041, the world, all the governments in the world, all the leaders in the world, are going to decide if we're going to leave Antarctica alone forever for science and peace and for our wildlife.
Want to watch the assembly we took part in? Well, you can by using this link: https://oddizzi-1.wistia.com/medias/r3h006pyri?mc_cid=e4be2480a2&mc_eid=085c754bda Included in this assembly (27mins in) is a mini film about 'Antarctica- The Great White Queen' voiced by Dame Joanna Lumley
We hope after taking part in this assembly, our children are inspired to become Champions of Antarctica and are keen to share why it is so important to protect the last great wilderness on Earth. In school we have set up our own Eco Warriors who will be helping our school to stay environmentally friendly and in turn, help Antarctica.
2041 School is a UK-registered charity (no. 1202447). Their mission is to educate young people about the importance of Antarctica by providing free educational materials and outreach initiatives. Here is a link to explain more: https://2041school.com/
